Dr Alison Lyon is a Specialist GP and breastfeeding medicine doctor with a diverse range of skills and experience. Originally trained in the UK, she brings nearly 20 years of clinical expertise across a variety of settings, from busy inner-city hospitals in Sydney to remote communities in Far Western NSW.
She holds advanced training in breastfeeding and lactation medicine and leads KidMed’s Breastfeeding and Lactation Clinic. Dr Lyon is also an Emergency Medicine doctor at Blue Mountains District ANZAC Memorial Hospital and holds a Conjoint Senior Lecturer appointment with the Department of General Practice at Western Sydney University, reflecting her strong commitment to education and academic medicine.
Dr Lyon provides holistic, evidence-based care for families navigating breastfeeding and infant feeding challenges. She supports a wide range of concerns including latching issues, low milk supply, mastitis, induced lactation, and perinatal mental health. Her approach is compassionate, individualised, and family-centred—tailored to meet the unique needs of each parent–infant dyad.
Now based in the Blue Mountains with her young family, Dr Lyon is passionate about supporting families throughout the reproductive journey.
